It’s time to put Mom & Dad’s photos up on the mantel again in accordance with my yearly tradition. When I was little, we had a different custom. May 1st meant dancing around the Maypole, weaving brightly colored streamers into a beautiful pattern, and handing out May Baskets full of flowers. It was a fun and lovely way of celebrating Spring, or so we thought. Unaware that the holiday had been assigned a new meaning in the late 19th century, we were happy in our innocence. (Actually, as savvy as I’d like to be, it’s still easy to catch myself in blatant naivete.) Anyway, it’s May again, and I have quite a case of “Songwriting Fever”. The melodies are dropping from the sky like blossoms in the breeze, and I’m gathering them up in a crazy frenzy. What a blissful blessing…. Best May Basket ever!

It’s high time for a demo of my inspirational/Spiritual Songs.  I’m waiting with bated breath for a shipment of finished CDs from U.P.S.  It’s called Three Healing Songs written and performed by Cynthia Bythell, and Discmakers sent it out on the 27th of last month.  So, where is that nice guy in the big brown truck?  A bunch…

I’m bringing all my experience and it’s wisdom (or not) to another year.  Like everyone else, my only limits are my own mistaken thoughts and beliefs.  They are just a product of involuntary exposure to society’s flawed suggestions, along with my knee-jerk reactions to life’s challenges.   Yes, I am innocent, and so are you. …

When I was in my twenties, a friend informed me that I was the most driven person she had ever met.  Certainly knocking on doors until one opened, was a specialty of mine. It worked.  But many times when better opportunities appeared seemingly out of nowhere, I wasn’t able to make use of them.  I was too busy following…

The first day of Spring is coming, and so is my birthday.  This year’s celebration is special because I start the day by playing and singing my latest incarnation of my old song The Wish Planet for a very small congregation of loving listeners at The Castro Valley Unity Church.  It’s a safe place to…

Photos of Mom & Dad are proudly displayed on my mantel in honor of their special days.  I like to believe they’re watching over me, and trying to help from the other side.  Hopefully they feel as proud of me as I felt when “my” kids played their pieces at the Annual Spring Recital last month.   My…
